Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Klamath Belle Boat/Dinner
You are invited for 1, 2, 3 or 4 days… to join an all-inclusive luxury bus tour. Choose to see Crater Lake National Park, travel down the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, the road to enjoy unique birding, wildlife & scenic wonders of Southwestern Oregon. Plus, enjoy excellent lodging & dining, along with the theatrical excellence of Ashland’s Oregon Shakespeare Festival!

Your tour package includes:

  • Dining and lodging at some of the region’s best inns and restaurants
  • Learning and experiencing birding, with outdoor birding tour specialists
  • All tickets and admissions to plays, parks & more
  • Swimming at a mineral hot springs geyser pool in Lakeview, Oregon’s Outback - 3 hours directly east of Ashland...a place of “stunning beauty”.

Day 1 - Crater Lake, Klamath Belle Boat & Bird at Sunset, Dinner Overnight...
9:30 am — Arrive at the Holiday Inn Express, Exit 27, behind Harry & David’s Country Store in Medford, Oregon.
10:00 am — Load all guests, luggage & depart for Crater Lake National Park. Our Custom Coach will travel through picturesque high alpine countryside to Crater Lake, Oregon’s only National Park. We will spend time at the Rim, taking in the incredible Crater Lake panorama.
12:30 pm — Enjoy a gourmet lunch at the recently renovated Historic Crater Lake Lodge with a tour of the Lodge.
We will then continue to Klamath Falls.
3:00 pm — Arrive at the Olympic Inn–Klamath Falls, decorated in an elegantly rustic western motif. Here you can relax & enjoy beverages & soups until late afternoon.
5:30 pm — Leave for a Klamath Lake Birding & Boat Tour on the paddlewheel-style Klamath Belle. Just relax & cruise Klamath Lake safely, while bald eagles soar above & waterfowl of every description dance upon the waters.
7:30 pm — Dinner at the famous Klamath Falls restaurant Gino’s Cafe Italiano, where four generations of original Italian recipes are served.

Day 2
6:30 am — Breakfast at at the Olympic Inn dining room.
7:30 am — Leave for a morning of bus coach-toured, professionally guided birding at the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge & Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Bring your binoculars & cameras to see everything from American White Pelicans, Western & Clark’s Grebes ... any of 350 different species!
11:30 am — Arrive at Lava Beds National Monument to tour the new Visitor Center, where those who choose to will go inside Valentine Cave for a brief tour - flashlights in hand!
12:30 pm — Eat a boxed lunch & tour Captain Jack’s Stronghold, the Historical Site of the Modoc War (1872-73), & see Modoc Indian Petroglyphs on high desert cliffs where Raptors soar above.
2:00 pm — Leave for Lakeview and the Fremont Inn & Lodge.
4:00 pm — Check-in at Fremont Inn which provides spacious rooms within walking distance of quaint downtown Lakeview.
6:30 pm — Dine at Fremont Inn’s famed Mario’s Restaurant. Enjoy either Prime Rib of Beef or Northwest Salmon.
7:30-8:30 pm — Evening bus tour of Goose Lake at Sunset on the Oregon Outback National Scenic Byway. It is a sight you will never forget!

Day 3
7:00 am — Breakfast at Freemont Inn
8:00 am — Birding to The Ponds of Lakeview
10:30 am — Checkout of Fremont Inn.
11:00 am — Travel to Hunter’s Hot Springs, Geyser and Swimming Pool for sightseeing, birding and swimming in the natural thermally heated pool!
1:00 pm — Leave for Ashland
4:00 pm — Check-in at the Ashland Springs Hotel, where one can visit a local spa or stroll through scenic Lithia Park.
6:00 pm — Dinner at Lark’s, next to the historic Ashland Springs Hotel. After dinner we will walk through charming downtown Ashland to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival play location.
7:00 pm — OSF Green Show on the Bricks.
8:00 pm — OSF Theatre performance.

Day 4 - Many Options to Round Out Your Tour:
Early Bird Observation at Klamath Bird Observatory's Ashland Banding Station.
Morning Breakfast at Ashland Springs Hotel Mezzanine 7 am to 10 am
Bus shuttle to tour Ashland’s beautiful Lithia Park
Day spa treatments (to be booked at additional cost in advance at extra charge through Main Source Tours).
Shopping and winery tasting in Downtown Ashland for Birding to the Bard Tour guests
11:00 am - 1:00 pm — Brief wine tasting tour and light lunch.
3:00 pm — Tour concludes at Holiday Inn Express Parking Lot

Main Source provides charter bus coach transportation. You will ride on either deluxe coaches comfortably seating up to 30. They are customized for sightseeing & include extra legroom, upgraded seating, video monitors, superior sound systems, & window screens. An on-board restroom, heat, & A/C round out the list of features that guarantee a pleasant & comfortable Birding To The Bard Tour.

Details:

  • Guests arrive at 5:15 p.m. to board at the docks at Waterfront Moore Park in the town of Klamath Falls just off I-97 on Lakeshore Drive (parking available).
  • The paddle wheel-style Klamath Belle Boat departs promptly at 5:30 p.m. for a 1 1/2 hour professionally narrated birding tour of Upper Klamath Lake's western shore as far as the running Y Ranch. The boat is both covered and heated (lower level) and open deck (upper level) for best viewing.
  • Binoculars and light refreshments will be provided.
  • Guests will observe several BALD EAGLES the bald eagle nesting sites, the Great Blue Heron, Western, Horned and Clark's
  • Grebes as well as numerous waterfowl and migratory birds.
  • We will watch the beginnings of the beautiful sunset.
  • At 7 :15 p.m. our group will drive to Gino's Cafe Italiano banquet room in Klamath Falls where a 4-course Gormet Italian Meal will be served with homemade breads, Italian salad, minestrone soup, special pasta entrees, dessert and beverage.
  • The dinner will feature a Nature/Birding Talk on Birding in the Region.
  • Shuttles from Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass are available
  • Door prizes will be awarded

Main Street Tours Terms and Conditions

  • Daily tours are designed to accommodate a minimum of 2 persons or more.  We also make arrangements for larger group tours – ask about our larger group discounts.
  • Our tour guides are professional hosts, educators, and our transport vehicles are custom, air-conditioned vans, Suburbans or in some cases, buses.
  • We request that all tours be paid by tour departure and that a hold deposit for a date is secured. We are safety certified by the Red Cross.
  • CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations after deposits are made , received more than 48- hours prior to a tour date or reservation booking , will result in a refund of 90% of the reservation price to cover our handling costs.  Less than 48 hours from tour departure  - 50% cancellation fee is required.  Feel free to contact us at (541) 482-7895 for extenuating circumstances.
  • We are not responsible for lost or stolen articles left on board any of our vehicles or at wineries.
